Coaching Tips and Variations
- Target buckets:
Set an empty ball bucket on top of a bench against the fence as a visual target to turn the rep into an aiming game. - Glove pointer cue:
Tell players to keep their glove pointing at the target until the throwing hand passes their ear to prevent early shoulder opening. - Shoe tape cue:
Put a piece of brightly colored tape on the front shoe so 6U players know exactly which foot to step with. - Four-seam grip:
Pause before each round to verify players are gripping the ball across the seams with their thumb underneath.
